ALBERTO MIELGO
MARATHON
Insanely talented animator and director.
Not always easy to find his work -
he's worked with a variety of companies,
including netflicks, Sony etc.That said,
enjoy, and wait, like me,for his
next twisted masterpiece

RESONANCE FM
RADIO UNTAMED
I'd almost forgotten about Resonance FM until
I heard Stewart Lee singing its praises on
Radio 4 this week. Some years ago, I had gone
to one of their shows at Conway Hall, in London
and it was a bit too Avant Garde for my tastes
(I'm more experimental - a different thing)
Anyway, a radio station without setlists, poptarts
and general pandering to listener figures -
I should be celebrating it, too. I'm going to make
a bigger effort to listen more often.
TV and radio is pretty lousy right now.
Time to seek out some less trod paths ...
Excellent Stewart Lee interview on why everything is rubbish
THE END OF ART ?
I was going to post the work of a painter
I really liked, who has been working since 2009.
I then noticed he had started using AI in 2024.
In his own words:
"I went from producing one piece a week
to making one every day"
As a result, there are hundreds of pictures
on his site - with no indication which is which.
The way we are being railroaded into
using this tech in every part of our lives
is highly suspect. I've never found a
use for it and the art it produces
is just plain ugly and stupid
It's even infected blogging, too -
one of the big art blogs has just started
including AI art, making it utterly useless to me.
I've not found much good stuff this week.
This isn't a full time job - more a by-product
of archive research, but you only have to take
a look on reddit to see how AI has devastated
the art industry.
For those of us who still believe in an
independent internet - non - paticipation is
the only defence. If people label us
luddites, they're just proving how shady
they are. I'll be popping a few champagne
corks when the bubble finally bursts.
For those who are interested -
I use the brave browser to cut out a
load of the ads and spyware culture and
only ever use DuckDuckGo for searches -
I'm hoping the little bit of tech, below,
will help, too.
